Summary
DozePause reads your heart rate, sleep and movement data to detect when you fall asleep, so it can pause and rewind your audio. Your health data is processed on your device and is never uploaded, shared or sold. DozePause has no server, and the app does not request internet access.
What data DozePause accesses
On your phone, through Android Health Connect, and only while you have granted permission:
- Heart rate, to detect the sustained drop and steady rhythm that indicate sleep.
- Sleep, reserved to help refine detection.
On your watch, through the DozePause companion app for Wear OS:
- Heart rate from the watch’s sensors (the Body sensors permission).
- Movement and step count from the watch (the Physical activity permission), to tell when you’ve stopped moving.
The watch sends these readings straight to the DozePause app on your paired phone over the Wear OS connection between your devices. They are not sent to us or to any server we run.
How DozePause uses it
- Only to decide whether you’ve fallen asleep, so the app can pause your media and rewind 60 seconds.
- A resting baseline heart rate is calculated from your recent readings and stored on your device so detection can work.
- We do not use health data for advertising, and we never sell it.
Where your data is stored
Everything is processed on your devices. DozePause stores the following in its private storage: your baseline, your settings, the recent activity log, and diagnostic snapshots (such as heart rate, movement and whether the screen was off) that explain why it did or didn’t pause. None of this leaves your device.
Sharing
DozePause does not share your health data with anyone. We do not sell or rent personal or health information.
Health Connect
You control DozePause’s access at any time in Health Connect’s settings, where you can review or revoke its permissions. Revoking access stops the app from reading new data. DozePause’s use of information received from Health Connect follows the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Other permissions
- Notification access, used only to find the media session that’s playing so the app can pause and rewind it. DozePause does not read or store the content of your notifications.
- Foreground service and notifications, to keep monitoring running overnight and show a status notification while it’s armed.
- Run at startup, to re-arm monitoring after your phone restarts if it was armed before.
Keeping and deleting data
Data stays on your device until you clear it: use Clear in the app’s activity log, clear the app’s storage in your device settings, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes everything the app stored.
Children
DozePause is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Future changes
If a paid version is introduced, purchases will be processed by Google Play (and possibly a billing provider such as RevenueCat), which may handle purchase records under their own policies. That will never involve your health data. This policy will be updated before any such change.
